Third year BA (Hons) Fine Art student Molly Jackson has been nominated in this year’s annual national painting prize.
Molly Jackson
Now in its third year, The Freelands Painting Prize invites higher education arts institutions across the country to nominate outstanding painting practice at undergraduate level, either in BA Fine Art or a painting course.
Eight winning artists are then selected by an esteemed panel of judges to participate in an exhibition at the Freeland’s Foundation gallery in London, in autumn 2022.
“Molly’s work presented a strong, consistent and candid group of paintings supported by a statement which suitably illuminates the contents of the work.”
Initially founded in 2015, the Freelands Foundation is committed to giving more people the opportunity to engage with visual arts and arts education, working with over 30 arts organisations in the UK to support artists and researchers by broadening their engagement in their communities.
BA (Hons) Fine Art student Molly Jackson, who has been shortlisted for this year’s prize, uses her practice to address the stress of relating to animals and advocating for them. Her work is made principally without an audience in mind, instead responding to the sadness of coexisting unfairly, and the bliss and relief of absurdity.
Winners will be announced on 16 May 2022 and we wish Molly the best of luck.
